Davido Timeless Album artwork

Long Awaited: Davido Releases new album ‘Timeless’

Davido has somewhat been missing in action and has returned with Timeless. It has been a whirlwind for one of Afrobeat’s greatest and this album would definitely lift his spirit and that of long awaiting his fans. His fourth studio album comprising 17 tracks features a collaboration with Skepta, Angelina Kidjo, Musa Keys, Asake, and Focalistics among others.

  1. Over Dem: Davido comes through with his identity, and states his place at the top, counting his blessings, the challenges and the hurdles he faced and countered. This is a solemn intro to Timeless. A befitting entry for the champ.

  2. Feel: Davido is a huge fan of amapiano. He gets us in the groove, it is what Feel feels like.

  3. In the Garden: This light amapiano song begins with Morravey’s vocal. Davido as usual has his lover’s side and lets loose.

  4. Godfather: This one is filled with lambas and brags. Davido describes his lifestyle and his capabilities. He poured his soul into this one and yet, put us on a dance floor.

  5. Unavailable: This song is accompanied by the choir recital effects and choking amapiano drum set. Musa Keys bounce on the song was off the hook, and got me asking ‘who is this guy’. This is equally for the head nod and chill vibes.

  6. BOP: Another amapiano genre compilated by a chunk of cunny rhythm, rhyme and repetitive bounce. Dexta Daps amplified the energy.

  7. E Pain me: This is just like one of Davido’s classics. It recounts a story of love and heartbreak. This is one of Davido’s afro-soul that will be on the lips of his fans for a long time.

  8. Away: This track is the curriculum vitae and guide track of Davido and his lifestyle.

  9. Precision: Davido, as usual, is away doing magic with the drum rolls. He renders Precision for the wilding crowd and something his listeners can easily sing along to and dance to.

  10. Kanté. Fave comes through with a catchy intro, chorus and soothing backup. Davido expresses another love feeling, a consistent act we never get weary of.

  11. Na money: Davido puts two classical arts in the booth for this one. An innovative highlife music with a soft blend of West Africa indigenous instrumentals that warrant an instant repeat after the first listen. The Caveman for the typical Igbotic nostalgia and Angelina Kilgo with her one-of-a-kind profound rendition. This masterpiece is everything a lover of classical music would crave for.

  12. U (Juju): Davido comes through as a lover boy, and brings bad boy, Skepta to deal with the hypnosis of being love stuck on a slow song.

  13. No competition: This is a typical afrobeat song featuring the king of Afrobeat Neo bounce, Asake. Their appraisal of a woman’s beauty set the roof on fire.

  14. Picasso: Davido takes us on an extraterrestrial plan and Logos Olori, on an Astro mode. He comes through with a cunny repetitive rhythm on this.

  15. For the Road: This feels like one of his classics on solemn percussion.

  16. KND (Legend Can Never Die): Davido takes us on sober reflection, pouring out his pain and why he is Davido.

  17. Champion Sound: The already big Amapiano song found its place as the last on the album. The synergy of Davido and Focalistic went atomic and has been banging for a long time.

Timeless is another worthy addition to Davido’s discography. The collaborations were in sync, sort of amapiano dominated and yet, entailing different genres. It is characterised by catchy hooks, poignant and uplifting lyrics, orchestras and infectious beats. Timeless is worth listening to and more importantly, Davido is back.
