Buju Reveals The Secrets Behind “Sorry I’m Late”, Replies Critics
One scroll through different streaming platforms and you might think everyone is enjoying Buju’s new EP, Sorry I’m Late. Well, you might even think there is a song for everyone on the newly released seven-track project judging by how well the EP has been doing on the charts worldwide.
But, this is not the case as some fans felt the project was different and incomplete because there is no single party jam on it.
Responding to critics of his latest submission, the talented afro-fusion singer says “Take time to listen, I know it’s not the regular but take time, read lyrics, it’s not to make you dance but promise you’ll find a rhythm”
Buju went on to say “Project was curated by my team and I trust I was sceptical about some of their choices as well but I listened to them because after a bit of patience and trusting their vision, it’s that project to single me out as one of the best writers around.”
“Believe me when I say, jams dey. I know how to make you move your body and dance to music; you know I do but this time, this very one time I want to move your mind.”
Buju released his EP on Thursday and since its release, the seven-track collection has earned spots on playlists and streaming charts globally.
Sorry I’m late was put together by multi-talented producers like Timi jay, Denzl, Steph, Perlz and Rexxie. The EP opens with Daniel Benson, which is Buju’s biological name and ends with I do tagged an inspirational piece. Other songs on the track list include Never stopped, Kilometer, Something sweet, For here and Ogechukwu that features The Cavemen which shows the versatility of the Nigerian afrobeat singer.
